Avtar Saini’s journey to Surrey, British Columbia, as a father determined to provide for his family was no easy undertaking. Rooted from the Gujarat region, where opportunities were limited, he faced numerous challenges with resilience and vision.

Over time, the Saini name became synonymous with excellence in hospitality, a reputation earned through dedication, authenticity, and a commitment to quality. These values laid the foundation for what would grow into Tasty Bistro.

What started as Tasty Sweets & Restaurant—a family-run business rooted in tradition—has since evolved into a brand that honors its origins while setting new standards in dining. Every meal, every detail, and every experience continues to carry forward the legacy of excellence Avtar Saini established.

With the support of his daughter Parminder, his son Inder, and the rest of the family, Avtar Saini transformed Tasty Sweets into more than just a restaurant—it became a beacon of family values and heartfelt tradition. Each dish was crafted with the same love and care as if it were made for family, creating a legacy that made the Tasty name truly special.

After Avtar’s passing, Parminder and Inder took on the responsibility of continuing the legacy their father built. Rooted in integrity, discipline, and a passion for great food, the tradition thrives to this day.

This journey was not new. Before immigrating to Canada in 1994, he managed a successful chain of restaurants from Gujarat to Punjab, learning the business from an early age. Their first location in Canada, with just 50 seats, quickly became one of the busiest Indian restaurants in the Lower Mainland.

Avtar’s dream was to create a space where guests could enjoy exceptional food while feeling as if they were dining in the grandeur of the Taj Mahal. Today, Tasty Bistro proudly carries that vision forward, blending authentic flavors with a welcoming atmosphere, and honoring his legacy with every step.
